Content
Management System (CMS) could be the most exciting
breakthroughs of the 21st century. It would appear
that we have reached the limits of what it is possible
to achieve with Content Management System, titlehough
one should be careful with such statements, as they
tend to sound pretty silly in 5 years.
At the risk of stating the obvious, it could be
said that a content management system is quite simply
- a system that manages content.
To fully understand what it is a CMS does, let us
first define
a) What is content?
b) What it is we understand under its management
and
c) What do we mean by a system? What
is Content?
Content is in essence, any type or 'unit' of digital
information. It can be text, images, graphics, video,
sound, documents, records etc - or in other words
- anything that is likely to be managed in an electronic
format. What
is Content Management?
Content Management is effectively the management
of the content described above, by combining rules,
process and/or workflows in such a way that its
electronic storage is deemed to be 'managed' rather
than 'un-managed'. What
is the CM System?
The system itself is definable as a tool or combination
or tools that facilitate the efficient and effective
production of the desired 'output' using the managed
content.
Combining all the three, we can say; "A
CMS is a tool that enables a variety of (centralized)
technical and (de-centralized) non technical staff
to create, edit, manage and finally publish (in
a number of formats) a variety of content (such
as text, graphics, video, documents etc), whilst
being constrained by a centralized set of rules,
process and workflows that ensure coherent, validated
electronic content."
The need for a Web Content
Management System (Web CMS)
At Adweb, we realized that today's businesses are
overwhelmed with the need to create more content,
more quickly, customized for more customers and
for more media than ever before. They need to control
their enterprise content and determine how to leverage
their web content to address all their customer
information and media needs.
Since an organization’s content is ever changing,
the Web CMS solution one chooses must be flexible
enough to accommodate not just today's needs, but
also tomorrow's. Choosing a content management system
(CMS) is not easy. There are hundreds of products
in the marketplace, all with highly-variable capabilities.
In this rapidly-evolving environment, the challenge
is to find the CMS that best matches ones business
needs. Why
Adweb’s CMS?

in a website that is consistent and professional
in appearance. It is tuned for portals of all types.
